SPEAKERS

Entertainment icon and philanthropist

Dolly Parton

Parton is a country music legend, a 10-time Grammy Award-winner, and the founder of Imagination Library, a nonprofit book-gifting program that has donated nearly 140 million books since 1995. Known for her charitable efforts, the Tennessee native announced a $1 million donation in early April to fund COVID-19 research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. That same week, Parton also launched “Goodnight With Dolly,” an Imagination Library video series in which she reads aloud bedtime stories.

Governor of Michigan

Gretchen Whitmer

Whitmer is a Democrat and the 49th governor of Michigan. Prior to being elected governor in 2018, she served as the Ingham Country prosecutor and in the state legislature, both as a representative and as the Senate Minority Leader. Now, with COVID-19’s spread slowing in her state, Whitmer is allowing some businesses, including retail stores and auto dealerships, to reopen.
